The barrel-aged 2004 Mogar Roble ($18) from Ribera del Duero is 100 percent tempranillo grape –- balanced, full bodied, ready for steaks and chops, maybe a hearty stew. The 2006 Finca Vieja ($9), also all tempranillo, is a dry red right for your wallet and palate, offering fine fruit and a match for red meat.

Carril de Cotos is made of 100% Airen, a widely grown grape native to Spain. Light in color, it offers flavors of banana and pineapple with a soft pleasant mount feel, a slightly steely mid–palate, and good acidity on the finish.

The 2001 Baron de Villacampa Reserva displays a dark ruby color with attractive aromas of ripe plum and oak. Aged for 12 months in French and American oak, it is classical in style, it offers a soft attack with nicely concentrated fruit flavors, good balance and round tannins on the finish. Enjoy with braised meats, mushrooms, and root vegetables. Moderate tannins.
